Jazz

At Miss Robin's Dance, Etc., this dance reflects the energy in Jazz music where movements can be sharp or smooth, quick or slow, subtle or strongly angular. It trains the body to isolate moving one part of the body while the rest of the body stays still. Isolation’s become a wonderful visualization of the syncopations of jazz music. Jazz dance training today also incorporates the techniques of modern and ballet.

** Advancement

Our primary focus is always to have a student placed in a level that is appropriate to each individual's proficiency and physical strength.  Advancement may occur at any time, however on average students are expected to remain in a level for a minimum of one year.  Your child may or may not be promoted every year.  If a child is promoted too soon, he/she will miss very valuable training.  Also, the child will struggle in the next level, which is unnecessary and could result in injury. A student who carefully develops his/her technique early in the curriculum will find advancement in later years to be smoother and more rewarding.
