Hip Hop

This dance is an urban dance style where the dancer’s movements express the beats and rhythms of hip hop music. Hip Hop creates body expression and freedom in dance that comes from the individual. Hip Hop dancing is a great form of exercise for anyone who loves to move to music and gives everyone the opportunity to learn to dance.

Instructor placement only.  This class is for advanced dancers with a strong understanding and ability to perform traditional hip-hop movements.

Students continue to develop body flexibility, stamina and strength and will be challenged to learn and demonstrate advanced choreography from week to week. An emphasis on core conditioning will also become a part of the warm-up. Dancers will also continue to build on their knowledge of rhythm and syncopation.

** Advancement

Our primary focus is always to have a student placed in a level that is appropriate to each individual's proficiency and physical strength.  Advancement may occur at any time, however on average students are expected to remain in a level for a minimum of one year.  Your child may or may not be promoted every year.  If a child is promoted too soon, he/she will miss very valuable training.  Also, the child will struggle in the next level, which is unnecessary and could result in injury. A student who carefully develops his/her technique early in the curriculum will find advancement in later years to be smoother and more rewarding.
